Specimen: 24 hour collection.

Method: Flame photometry, ISE.

Reference Interval: <5 mmol/24 hours.

Application: Very rarely indicated to document faecal potassium loss as a cause of hypokalaemia.

Interpretation: The test should be evaluated in conjunction with urine potassium.
