MYOCARDIAL ANTIBODIES - serum

Specimen: 5 mL blood in plain tube.

Method: Immunoassay.

Reference Interval: Not detected.

Application: Very limited application, due to lack of specificity.

Interpretation: Although previously considered to have a role in the diagnosis of Dressler’s syndrome and the post-cardiotomy syndrome, myocardial antibodies are of little value, as they lack specificity and are present in many other cardiac disorders.
