MITOCHONDRIAL ANTIBODIES - serum

Specimen: 5 mL blood in plain tube.

Method: Indirect IF.

Reference Interval: Qualitative test; positive is significant.

Application: Diagnosis of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).

Interpretation: A positive result at high titre is highly sensitive and specific for PBC.
