ASPERGILLUS PRECIPITINS - serum
Specimen: 5 mL
blood in plain tube.
Method: Immunodiffusion, CIE, EIA.
Application: Investigation of suspected aspergillosis in patients with asthma.
Interpretation: Presence of precipitating antibody supports a diagnosis of allergic
bronchopulmonary aspergillosis and/or aspergilloma. Not useful for the diagnosis
of invasive aspergillosis, for which a tissue biopsy is required.
