ANTI IgA ANTIBODIES - serum
Specimen: 5 mL blood
in plain tube.
Method: Immunoassay.
Reference Interval: Method dependent; consult pathologist.
Application: In patients with IgA deficiency, to determine the risk of transfusion
associated anaphylaxis.
Interpretation: This test delineates a subgroup of IgA deficient patients who
may be at risk of anaphylaxis if given infusions of blood products containing IgA.
