Application: Detection of endocrine tumours secreting only the free a
chains of the glycoprotein hormones (LH, FSH, hCG, TSH).
Interpretation: Some pituitary tumours secrete little or no intact hormone, but
produce the common a subunit of glycoprotein hormones,
at times in massive amounts.
